Community

At MedImmune Cambridge, we endeavour to support the wider community in which we operate.

Education
We have links with over twenty UK universities and a number of European institutions. We offer  internships and places to industrial placement students. For three months of the year we also take 'case students' - students who are working on particular research projects at their universities and which are funded by MedImmune.

Industry Associations
Our staff are actively involved in industry bodies such as the Bioindustry Association (BIA).  BIA is the trade association for innovative enterprises in the UK's bioscience sector. We have committee members on bioscience interests groups within the The Royal Society of Chemistry. We are members of Eastern Region Biotechnology Initiative (ERBI), the objective of which is to facilitate and accelerate the growth of biotech in Cambridge and the East of England.

Environment
We are committed to playing our part in protecting the environment. Wherever possible, our facilities reflect best practice in terms of building design and functionality; we have established an environmental policy and apply this to all aspects of our operations; and a number of environmental operational goals are in place, such as the reduction of water and electricity consumption.

Charity Support
Our employees are active in supporting charities, both national and local.  We have had coffee mornings for Macmillan Cancer Support, and each year we 'turn pink' in aid of the "Wear it Pink" Breast Cancer Awareness campaign.  Teams of staff enter the Chariots of Fire race in Cambridge in aid of the local Arthur Rank Hospice.
